Recently I have joined a freelancing site called freelancer.com.au. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this site or similar.

These sites greatly underprice our industry (e.g. people wanting logos for $30). This seems the same for brochures etc. Most of the bids come from less developed countries, so how can we in western countries compete.

I have created several bids, but haven’t been chosen because, I’m too expensive (I offer to do a logo for $100) and still I’m not competitive. I usually charge around $400 for a logo.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE: BROCHURE BRIEF AND PRICE (I didn’t write the job brief, so don’t blame me for spelling errors).

We are looking for a business partner, in order to assign all of our corporate identity and stationaty designs work to a freelancer. One of our clients is requesting a Brochure Design (Double 8 1/2 x 11).

If you are looking for a long term relantionship, please placed a bid but have in mind the following requirements:

1) Add example of your work, I am looking for Brochure Designs only.
2) DO NOT OFFER MORE THAN $30. This is the price I will pay.
3) The Brochure design has to be ready in no more than 48H
4) You should send all the source files, .psd, .ai, etc

If you do not fullfill or do not agree with the conditions please do not bid.

If you can also show some examples of Logo designs it will be a plus.

Not only do people want the work for next to nothing, they want to see a mock-up before you are chosen. I don’t know of any profession that does work in the event they might get paid.

Created in Indesign CS3 , I have also supplied a file with .inx extension, so you can open in earlier versions of Indesign e.g. cs2. This is an editable file with layers and style sheets used. Just input your text and images (don’t forget your images must be 300dpi CMYK ). Brochure can be used for Corporate Companies e.g. Industrial, Financial, Energy, Green etc.
